At a Board of Aldermen meeting, the congressman urged the city to push for a short-term extension rather than the entire project. This would consist of extending the Green Line only to Union Square and Washington St and creating new commuter rail line stops beyond that.
STEP vehemently disagrees. The entire Green Line Extension is a legally mandated project and critical for our city’s growth, and we will not rest until every station is built. Relying on commuter rail for local service is a horrible idea, in part because of the severe pollution it would add to our area.
